Mozzie is a forest Pegasus foal taking a nap on a nice mossy pillow, complete with tiny mushrooms! He is a customized version of Kylee Park's sculpture "Ozzie" with his cloud pillow being transformed :). He was loosely inspired by the camouflage of the baby Australian Sandcatcher, a small bird that when young, has the pattern of the moss nests it grows up near! I had never really pondered "do Pegasus foals immediately have the ability to fly?" and Mozzie explores just that! In this world, forest Pegasus foals are unable to fly for the first year of their life, so to adapt, the foals are born with a coat to help them blend into the forest. When the adult herd are out and about, the babies find a nice soft spot to hide (and snooze) until their return. Mozzie found the comfiest patch of squishy moss and settled in for a nap, with one last little yawn before he dozes off.

Mozzie measures approximately 7.5 inches tall (from back of rock to his tippy toe) and approximately 5 inches wide. He was painted in mixed media to a mossy green camo! I had SO much fun creating him, he truly almost painted himself! His former cloud pillow was customized with epoxy and 3D printed mushrooms to a mossy rock base. Complete with realistic "moss" terrain and grass tufts. Mozzie has been sealed in a matte finish, with glossed mouth and inner nostrils, and satin finished mushroom friends.
